During the conference, relating to the topic of "the European year of creativity and innovation 2009", we deal with the innovative methods and utilization fields of thermal water. Besides the areas of using thermal water in health-tourism and energetics, we are doing a research on the social and economic effects of the implemented improvements. We are to show the real status of the European thermal industry by a broad summarizing evaluation of the latest data and other information.

Hungary could be a European power - at least in the use of geothermic energy. Our source of thermal water and hot rock undreground is a unique facility, not only for "free energy".

The same can be told about several European countries such as Germany, Italy, Poland. If the underground heat was used in a higher volume besides bathing, the addiction from fossile fuel that is responsible for greenhouse effect could be reduced.

The network of spa hotels built on the European source of thermal water is increasing, showing an improvement in both quantity and quality. Several successful European projects in connection with thermal water have been implemented by EU sponsorship.

So the energy of the Earth's heat can be used in different ways. The direct use of thermic energy is heating and making of domestic hot water. Mórahalom town has already experienced the ways of using geothermal energy due to its well-known spa.

We would like to raise the decision-makers' attention by emphasizing these questions' multiple relations and effects, that the rational use of revolving energy resources needs long term and well based decisions. Europe has to increase its innovational abilities in both social and economical aspects, as well as the different ways of utilizing thermal water.

The conference provides chances for the participants and the invited twin-towns to share their knowledge and experiences in this topic, contributing to the spreading of the EU's principles. During our presentations we are to compare the national and EU examples, and to show the EU principles and useful experiences.

The project has also a cohesive role in aiming a long term cooperation between the twin-towns, and helping to get to know each other and cultivating the relationships.

The conference is effective for widespreading the practice, improving researches, creativity and innovation. All these points help the common European consciousness to be improved.
